Reishi Danshen & Abalone Tonic Soup

Língzhī Dānshēn Bàoyú Tāng (芝丹参鲍鱼汤)

 

 

Reishi–Danshen Abalone Tonic Soup is a nourishing medicinal soup made with reishi mushroom, danshen, and fresh abalone as its main ingredients. It helps replenish qi, nourish the blood, calm the mind, and enhance immunity. It is often cooked together with chicken or pork to maximize its tonic benefits.

Ingredients

  • Reishi mushroom (, Líng zhī) 15 g
  • Danshen (, Dān shēn) 15 g
  • Red dates (红枣, Hóng zǎo) 20 g
  • Fresh abalone (鲜鲍鱼, Xiān bào yú) 500 g
  • Ginger (, Jiāng) appropriate amount
  • Spring onion (, Cōng) appropriate amount
  • Cooking wine (料酒, Liào jiǔ) appropriate amount
  • Ground pepper (胡椒粉, Hú jiāo fěn) appropriate amount
  • Salt (, Yán) — appropriate amount

 

Cooking Method

  1. Soak the reishi mushroom in water until soft, then cut into pieces.
  2. Boil danshen in 600 ml of water until only 200 ml remains. Strain and keep only the liquid. Wash and pit the red dates.
  3. Remove the shells from the abalones, clean thoroughly, and score the surface of the flesh.
  4. In a pot, add the danshen decoction, reishi, spring onion, and cooking wine, then add an appropriate amount of water.
  5. Steam all the ingredients together for 2 hours. Season with pepper and salt, then add red dates, abalone, and ginger to finish.
